II Shea Hair StudIO
A curls best friend
Hey, curl friends! I'm Shea
I'm originally from Northern Virginia and attended Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School in 2007. After graduation, I spent a short time working in Georgetown, DC, before making my way to Richmond.
While working at a Richmond salon for six years, I was introduced to curly hair and texture-focused cutting and styling. I discovered my love for curly hair and passion for helping people embrace their natural curls, and I haven't looked back since.
Eleven years ago, I opened my own private studio in Carytown, where I've been specializing in curly and wavy hair ever since.
Over the years, I've continued my education with some of the industry's top academies and educators, including L'Oréal Professional, Reddken, ARROJO, and DevaCurl, etc.
I always say curls are like snowflakes—no two are exactly alike. That's what makes my job so rewarding. Every day brings a new challenge, a new curl pattern, and a new opportunity to help someone understand and love their natural hair.
My goal isn't just to give you a great haircut. I want you to leave feeling confident, knowing your curls don't have to be difficult. With the right cut, routine, and products, your natural texture can become something you truly enjoy wearing. I believe curly hair is incredibly unique, full of personality, and absolutely a vibe. My passion is helping you see that, too!

FREQ UENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE ARRIVING
Do you dry cut?
I don't define my haircutting by one specific method. Every haircut is customized to your individual curl pattern, density, and goals.
The majority of my haircuts (about 80% or more) are performed on dry hair, or are at least refined and finished dry so I can see how your natural texture falls. However, some curl patterns respond better to a wet cut, and in those cases I'll use the technique that will give you the best result.
Rather than following one cutting method, I choose the approach that's best for your unique hair and helps you achieve a shape that works with your natural texture
I truly value your time, and also want to make sure I’m able to give each client the one-on-one attention they deserve. Because I am a one-person business, staying on schedule is extremely important to keeping appointments running smoothly.
Try to arrive 5 minutes before appointment time- and allow at least an hour and a half for your hair cut appointment.
Late Policy
? More than 10 minutes late: Your appointment may be shortened, and there is a 50% chance that I may not be able to accommodate the appointment, depending on the service and the schedule for the day.
? More than 15 minutes late: The appointment will need to be rescheduled, and a $30 late/rescheduling fee will be added to your next appointment.
Hair Preparation Policy
Please arrive with your hair properly prepared for your scheduled service.
Please either wash your hair the day before or day of. Hair must be down or pulled back very loosely and dry. Conditioned and detangled , little or to no product
Examples of hair that may not be appropriately prepared include:
? Excessive product or buildup that needs to be worked through
? Tangled or severely knotted hair
? Braids that have not been taken down
? Hair pulled back tightly
? Hair that has been blown out
If needing to spend more than 20 minutes detangling or preparing the hair before I can begin your scheduled service, this may result in either:
? An additional fee for the extra time required, or
? The service being split into two separate appointments, depending on the amount of time needed.
Is my hair curly enough?
If you naturally wear your waves or curls most of the time (75% and more) and you're ready to embrace your natural texture instead of relying on heat styling, then yes!
